Tofu, also known as bean curd, is a food prepared by coagulating soy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into solid white blocks of varying softness; it can be silken, soft, firm, extra firm or super firm. It is packed full of protein and its uses are endless. But where do you start when you know nothing about tofu? Let us give you the basics on this vegan kitchen staple and help you prepare 1-2 tasty recipes to start you on your journey.
So far, we have created egg-less egg salad, tofu scramble and orange tofu using “firm” tofu. We have also created nacho cheese, custard pie and sour cream using “silken” tofu. In this next class we are going to explore recipes using “medium firm” tofu – maybe a sweet & sour soup, corn custard or even a french toast! Sign up and explore with us.
